Dragons are divided into races by the color of their scales. Namely: Black, White, Red, Azur, Yellow, Silver, Bronze and Copper dragons etc. In exceptional cases, other colors are also found – for example, the very rare purple, the even rarer “diamond”, etc. Albinism is developed, and especially melanism (black dragons are the third most common). Chinese long dragons are traditionally divided into five types by color: Huánglóng – Yellow Dragon, Qīnglóng – Azur Dragon, Chilong – Red Dragon, Bail Long – White Dragon and Xuanlong – Black Dragon.
Black Dragon
Only few people have seen the Black Dragons. They tend to hide from prying eyes. Black dragons live either in underground caves or in swamps. They kill anyone who accidentally enters their territory. They can reach 30 feet in length. Their weapons are their sharp claws and acid breath, which strikes at a distance of about 6 feet. They are very powerful in magic.
White Dragon
White Dragons are the most animal-like of all dragons, and they are not so intelligent as other dragons. White Dragons care only about themselves, and so they live far from other dragons, in snowy wastes or icy cliffs. They eat only frozen food, and use their icy breath to do so, exhaling a cone of intense cold up to 7 feet long. Magic is very rare among White Dragons.
Red Dragon
Of all the evil dragons, the Red Dragon is the worst, with the possible exception of Tiamat Dragon. Cowardly and sneaky, they like to act from the shadows and are partial to precious gems and gold. They will do anything to add a few more diamonds to their hoard. They live in the rocks, where they make their lairs in large caves. They hate strangers, because they are obsessed with the idea that someone wants to steal their wealth. Settlements located near their burrows are subject to tribute, obliging them to sacrifice girls to them.
A Red Dragon attacks with the claws of its fangs, or burns with its fire breath at a distance of up to 9 feet. Ancient Red Dragons hads used magic. Red Dragons are one of the breeds of Great Dragons. In average, Red Dragon can reach 48 feet from head to tail. Possessing exceptional intelligence makes Red Dragons very dangerous.
Azur Dragon
Azur Dragons dwell in rivers, lakes, and oceans and roams the skies. They are hostile to other dragons and jealously guard their territory. They rely more on their cunning and wisdom than on strength, and usually use magic to influence their victims. But they can also strike their opponents with lightning.
Yellow Dragon
Yellow Dragons are noble and very wise, and their wisdom exceeds the concept of evil or good. They live for a justice. But they are friendly to other creatures and are always ready to help anyone who needs it. They hate battles, and if they fight, then only to protect good. Their weapon is their fiery breath. They can live anywhere, but most often they can be found in the mountains. They are more skilled in magic than other dragons, but they use their knowledge only for good. They usually eat precious stones, although they can eat almost anything.
DRAGON
Chinese or Japanese?
It is very easy to recognize a Chinese dragon – it has 5 toes on its paws. Dragons from Korea and Vietnam have4 toes, and Japanese dragons have only three. The Chinese believe that dragons first appeared in the Celestial Empire, and then began to explore new lands. When traveling (eastern dragons cannot fly and move only on foot or by swimming), the creatures lost their toes. The further they went, the less toes remained. But if the dragon returned to China, its toes grew back.
The Japanese have the opposite opinion. They believe that the paws of traveling dragons became stronger and new toes grew.
The Koreans claim that dragons appeared in Korea initially with 4 toes, but to travel across big China they needed another toe, and in small Japan they could get by with 3.
